From Big Bus to Ships Tavern

One of our favorite ways to see a new city in a short amount of time
is to take a tour courtesy of a hop-on, hop-off bus. We opted for the
Big Bus tour over the Original bus tour because the drop off points
suit our needs better.

We just happened to pick up the tour at stop #1 at Green Park. We
chose the live narration for the first time around and anything after
that would be based on our transportation needs.

The tour went by the usual spots, but having the narration added to
the experience of looking at building after building. There is so much
history here and we got some excellent views of the London icons. I am
trying to conserve our memory space in the camera yet preserve our
memories, so while we didn't take a bazillion photos, we took plenty.
Can't wait to be able to share them with you all.

The tour ended around 4:30 and we hadn't had lunch. We picked up what
turned out to be very good pizza for the boys to have in the room
while DH and I went around the corner to the Ships Tavern for a quiet
meal.

The Ships Tavern was recommended by one of the DISers. My number one
thing I wanted to do in London was have at least one meal somewhere
that served what is thought of as traditional food. The Ship Tavern
fit the
bill.

We both ordered fish and chips. What came out was a delicious huge
piece of halibut dipped in a light beer batter and fried to
perfection. It was delicious. We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere
of this out of the way tavern.
